What is the grading system in the Vocational School?
Our Vocational School implements a 4.00 grading scale. In order to graduate, students must successfully complete 120 ECTS credits, achieve a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.00, and have no remaining FF or DZ (Non-Attendant) grades.
What is the attendance requirement?
There is an 80% mandatory attendance requirement across all our programs. If your absenteeism exceeds 20% throughout the semester, you will fail the course due to non-attendance (DZ). The student is required to retake any course failed due to non-attendance.
Are medical reports valid for attendance or exams?
Medical reports are not valid for regular class attendance during the semester; they are only accepted for official exam periods. You must submit your medical report along with a Make-up Exam Petition to the Student Affairs Office within 3 (three) working days following the end of the respective exam period.
What is an academic advisor, and how can I find out who my advisor is?
The purpose of academic advising is to guide students regarding adaptation to university life, professional development, career planning, and similar academic matters throughout their education; to inform students during the course registration process at the beginning of each semester (including summer school); and to approve the required course(s) by evaluating the student's academic standing together with the student.
You can find out who your academic advisor is via the Student Information System (OBS).
When is the course registration period?
You can perform your enrollment renewal and course registration processes within the dates specified in the official Academic Calendar.
What should I do during enrollment renewal and course registration?
First, check via OBS if you have any tuition or fees due, and pay the required amount at the respective bank. You must provide your "registration approval" on OBS. Following this, you can start the course selection process. You should select the required courses in accordance with the guidelines stated on your transcript/grade status document obtained from the system. If necessary, you must complete the course substitution processes. Your course registration is finalized once you contact your academic advisor and receive the advisor's official approval. Finally, you must print out your course schedule and have it signed by your advisor.
My courses overlap; can I take both courses?
No. There is an 80% mandatory attendance requirement in all our programs. Therefore, it is not possible to enroll in two overlapping courses. You must prioritize taking the failed course from the previous semesters first.
Can I retake a course I have already passed to improve my grade?
Yes. You can perform the course selection process by submitting a GPA Improvement Petition to your advisor during the registration renewal week. However, when you retake a course, the most recent grade obtained will be valid, even if it is lower than your previous grade.
I want to withdraw from a course I am enrolled in. What should I do?
You can withdraw from a course by submitting a Course Withdrawal Petition within the first three weeks from the start of classes. You must also obtain the approval of your academic advisor for this request.
What does the course adaptation (equivalence) process mean?
It is the process of matching the courses you have completed successfully at another higher education institution with the courses you are responsible for at our institution when you request an exemption. Do not lose the course adaptation document issued to you upon your application, and select your courses during registration accordingly.
Can I request an exemption from courses?
Yes. You can request an exemption from equivalent courses that you have studied and successfully completed at other institutions. For this, you must apply to the Student Affairs Office with a petition enclosing your approved (sealed, stamped, and signed) transcript and official course descriptions provided by your previous higher education institution.
I missed a course exam. Can I take a make-up exam?
In order to be eligible for a make-up exam, you must document a just and valid excuse accepted by our University Senate. You must submit your Make-up Exam Application Petition along with your supporting excuse documents to the Student Affairs Office within 3 (three) working days following the end date of the respective exam period.

However, students who have received a disciplinary sanction or have a letter grade of FF, YZ (Unsatisfactory), DZ (Non-Attendant), or EK (Additional) are not considered "High Honor Students" or "Honor Students" even if they meet the required grade point average.
- Students who graduate with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.50 or higher graduate as "High Honor Students", and those with a CGPA between 3.00 and 3.49 graduate as "Honor Students", which is recorded in the student's diploma supplement. How can I apply for summer school?
Summer school is not a separate semester outside the fall and spring semesters, but rather a continuation of the spring semester. The CGPA of a student taking courses in summer school is recalculated by taking into account the letter grades obtained in summer school. Summer school registrations are completed during the week prior to the start of summer school at the latest. Students who wish to take courses in summer school are obliged to pay the summer school tuition fee in accordance with the provisions of the relevant legislation.
A student can register for a maximum of 20 ECTS credits of courses offered in summer school. Students who are in a position to graduate at the end of summer school can register for a maximum of 25 ECTS credits of courses. These limits include credits for courses taken from other higher education institutions.
In accordance with the "Eskişehir Technical University Summer School Regulations", students may take courses from the summer schools of other higher education institutions within the framework of principles determined by the Senate, upon the recommendation of the relevant board of directors and the decision of the University Administrative Board.
I want to take a course from another university in summer school, what should I do?
Students may register for courses offered at other higher education institutions whose equivalence is accepted, provided that they do not exceed the limits of maximum 20 ECTS, or maximum 25 ECTS if they are in a graduation status. However, a course offered at another higher education institution cannot be taken instead of a course offered at the University during summer school unless it is approved by the University Administrative Board.
Students who wish to take a course from another university must apply to the Vocational School Directorate with a petition for the approval of course equivalence.
